Welcome to our virtual classroom!

This blog has been designed for the parents of our currently enrolled students. However, I am happy to share our Montessori journey with others. I am not very experienced with this whole idea of "blogging", and I hope that in making this blog, I am creating a place that parents can come and see what's going on in our classroom. I am also excited to be able to "link" or share my classroom with other Montessori preschools.

Welcome to Desert Edge Montessori!

Hi,
I am happy you found our blog! I use this blog primarily to share with the parents of enrolled students, or to share information about our school, with those that are interested in possible enrollment. Each month I try to post at least twice, including information and pictures of the current students and information on what is currently going on in our school. At the end of every school year, I delete the “old posts” in order to get ready for the new ones of the upcoming school year. Our 2011-2012 school will come to an end on May 17th 2012. Most years I run a summer camp, but have chosen this year not too in order to squander as much of this summer as I can, with my own children.  It won’t be long now and they’ll be off to a bigger and brighter world, which will not include as many lake filled days, or summer camp outs with their good old mom and dad!
For those of you that are looking to our blog for possible information on our school or seeking a little more information on what our classroom is like, please check out the YEAR UNDER REVIEW page. I have put it together as a little “run down” of the past school year. It includes pictures and information from some of the highlights of our past school year, and will hopefully help familiarize you to our classroom and to some of the great activities our students participated in this past year. We are a very traditional Montessori school and we follow the AMS and NAMC licensed primary curriculum. As the director and owner of our little school, I feel it very important to maintain as much integrity towards a truly Montessori curriculum and environment, as possible. I’ve worked hard at trying to maintain this in our classroom and I am truly proud to bring such an amazing little school to our community!
If you are seeking more of the “nitty gritty” details such as programs offered, enrollment availability, tuition rates, etc. you may want to check out our “official” web page www.desertedgemontessori.com.
If you have any questions about our school, our program or Montessori in general, feel free to give me a call or shoot me an email. Currently I am putting together a group of Desert Edge “sister schools” that will network together in the sharing of ideas and offering help to those who may need it, with their school, home school or in their primary classroom. This is a great resource to those who are looking for fresh ideas, new “works” or just seeking a little guidance with the Montessori materials or curriculum. Every month we each share an idea for one “new work” or “extension activity” with an existing work or material in one of the areas of Montessori, as well as share free “printables”, advice and most importantly, friendship!
For those of you that are parents to the currently enrolled students, I hope you enjoy your summer and that it is filled with sunshine and wonderful moments! I CAN’T WAIT FOR OUR 2012-2013 journey to begin!  PLAY HARD and I will see you and your little ones soon!
Love to you all!
